Why a Lost Cellphone Forced an Airplane to Turn Around in Mid-Flight

Last week an Air France flight to the Caribbean had to turn around and return to Paris, reports the Washington Post, “after a passenger could not locate their cellphone.” Because of fears that an unattended cellphone could overheat — and because the passenger and crew couldn’t find the phone — the Boeing 777 turned around off the coast of France “and returned to the airport, according to the flight-tracking service FlightAware. Lanterns’ Director Teases the HBO Show’s Tone and ‘Sci-Fi Magic’

The upcoming Lanterns series centers on John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) using their Green Lantern rings to investigate a mystery on Earth. Given the Green Lantern movie was mostly set on Earth, there was some concern among fans that the show was going to repeat that film’s mistakes. But according to director James Hawes, the show will do right by the heroes’ cosmic scope. Amazon announced this week that Jennifer Salke is stepping down as the head of Amazon MGM Studios — a move that could indicate high-level dissatisfaction with the company’s streaming strategy over the past few years.
