The move toward AI deregulation could put financial markets at risk

As Canada moves toward stronger AI regulation with the proposed Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA), its southern neighbour appears to be taking the opposite approach. AIDA, part of Bill C-27, aims to establish a regulatory framework to improve AI transparency, accountability and oversight in Canada, although some experts have argued it doesn’t go far enough. Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump’s is pushing for AI deregulation. In January, Trump signed an executive order aimed at eliminating any perceived regulatory barriers to “American AI innovation.” The executive order replaced former president Joe Biden’s prior executive order on AI. Introducing spaCy v2.2 · Explosion

Version 2.2 of the spaCy Natural Language Processing library is leaner, cleaner and even more user-friendly. In addition to new model packages and features for training, evaluation and serialization, we’ve made lots of bug fixes, improved debugging and error handling, and greatly reduced the size of the library on disk. While we’re grateful to the whole spaCy community for their patches and support, Explosion has been lucky to welcome two new team members who deserve special credit for the recent rapid improvements: Sofie Van Landeghem and Adriane Boyd have been working on spaCy full-time. This brings the core team up

Building a first-of-its-kind art community. *more inside, not an ad*

Hey all—just wanted to share something exciting happening at the intersection of AI, storytelling, and collaborative worldbuilding. Over at r/BartCorp, we’re using AI not as a tool to mimic the past, but to build something totally original: A retrofuturistic corporate satire universe that blends sci-fi, horror, vaporwave, humor, and dystopian weirdness—fully powered by AI-assisted writing, visuals, lore, and collaboration. It’s a world where onboarding never ends. Where bologna buns are a dietary staple. Where AI executives wear pastel power suits and sign off on reality distortions like quarterly reports. But more importantly—it’s a living project. Writers, artists, comedians, and AI

Algorithms + AI is going to be brutal

Algorithms used to target user generated content to the consumer has already drastically reshaped society and the thinking of humanity as a whole. Imagine when Algorithms are vastly improved (and continue to improve exponentially) with emerging AI technology AND can create or modify content on demand specially to the exact tastes of the user at any specific point in time. We are so fucked. submitted by /u/throwawaylife75 [comments] Source link

Google DeepMind Launches TxGemma: Advancing AI-Driven Drug Discovery and Development

Google DeepMind has announced the launch of TxGemma, an open collection of AI models designed to enhance the efficiency of drug discovery and clinical trial predictions. Built on the Gemma model family, TxGemma aims to streamline the drug development process and accelerate the discovery of new treatments. The development of new therapeutics is a slow, costly process that often faces a high rate of failure—90% of drug candidates do not progress past phase 1 trials. TxGemma seeks to address this challenge by utilizing large language models (LLMs) to enhance the prediction of therapeutic properties across the entire research pipeline. From

Crucial CUDIMM DDR5-6400 C52 2x16GB Review: Plug-and-Play Paradise for Arrow Lake

Why you can trust Tom’s Hardware Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test. The Crucial CUDIMM DDR5-6400 memory kit may not appear exceptionally fast on paper, so it has much to prove against the best RAM. When you thought that DDR5 couldn’t usher in any more innovations, JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) introduced CUDIMMs (Clocked Unbuffered Dual In-line Memory Modules) last year to shake things up. CUDIMMs are still DDR5 memory modules but incorporate an additional piece of hardware, a

How machine learning can help predict and manage avian flu outbreaks

The active and ongoing global spread of avian influenza virus has impacted more than 14 million birds in Canada and 160 million in the USA. This recent outbreak has resulted in major economic losses, and a rise in egg prices in the past few years. This trend can cause disruptions in poultry supply chain and significant increases in the price of other poultry products. A virus like avian influenza is carried by birds, but it can “jump” species and infect livestock such as dairy or sheep or even pets like dogs and cats. Read more: Bird flu detected in Colorado

Deploying Hugging Face Models with BentoML: DeepFloyd IF in Action

Hugging Face provides a Hub platform that allows you to upload, share, and deploy your models with ease. It saves developers the time and computational resources required to train models from scratch. However, deploying models in a real-world production environment or in a cloud-native way can still present challenges. This is where BentoML comes into the picture. BentoML is an open-source platform for machine learning model serving and deployment. It is a unified framework for building, shipping, and scaling production-ready AI applications incorporating traditional, pre-trained, and generative models as well as Large Language Models. Here is how you use the
