I have a lot of respect for iOS/Mac developers. I started writing apps for iPhones in 2007, when not even APIs or documentation existed. The new devices adopted some unfamiliar decisions in the constraint space, with a combination of power, screen real estate, UI idioms, network access, persistence, and latency that was different to what we were used to before. Yet, this community soon managed to create top-notch applications that felt at home with the new paradigm. Hey fellow writers, just wanted to say hello and drop a thought or two.
The more I work with AI, the more I’m convinced we’re on the edge of something really wild. Writing with AI isn’t about replacing creativity—it’s about unlocking it. It lets us stretch stories further, worldbuild faster, iterate ideas at the speed of thought. We can bounce off the machine, challenge it, remix it, and use it to break through the kind of creative staleness that’s plagued fiction, especially sci-fi and genre writing, for a while now. Instead of waiting for inspiration to strike, I’m watching whole fictional universes unfurl—surreal, corporate, horrifying, hilarious ones. It feels more like discovery than invention.

Are we past the uncanny valley yet or will that ever happen?
I have been discussing about AI-generated images with some web designers, and many of them are skeptical about its value. The most common issue that was raised was the uncanny valley. At its own GTC AI show in San Jose, California, earlier this month, graphics-chip maker Nvidia unveiled a plethora of partnerships and announcements for its generative AI products and platforms.
